Surgical technologists work under direct supervision to facilitate the safe and effective completion of invasive surgical procedures. You will learn the application of sterile and aseptic technique to help ensure that the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly. Upon program completion, you are eligible to write the certification examination. Career Outlook: Entry-level positions are available in operating rooms and ambulatory surgery facilities. This program admits students through a petition selection process. NATSCI-177 and NATSCI-179, or NATSCI-201 and NATSCI-202, must be completed to petition. In addition, current enrollment or completion of NATSCI-197 is required to petition. HP-A2 HESI Pre-admission exam American Heart Association CPR course One year of high school-level algebra, biology and chemistry (or equivalent college courses) Required Natural Science (NATSCI) courses must be completed with a grade of C+ or higher.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
